Able250 Essay Contest

A Declaration of Interdependence

We invite you to share how Americans with disabilities have shaped the founding ideals of our nation — and how those contributions have helped "form a more perfect Union" since 1776.

The American Story from 1776 Onward

We invite essays that highlight the essential role of Americans with disabilities from 1776 onward, including patriots wounded in the Revolutionary War who continued to serve the new republic despite their injuries.

Submissions should show how individuals with disabilities have been part of the American story from the very beginning — not as exceptions, but as core contributors to liberty, justice, and the ongoing pursuit of a more perfect union.
